On Friday night the Knights took on the Parkland Trojans. The Knights
unfortunately lost 33-13. But the Knights went down with their heads
up and played hard until the final whistle was blown.
Parkland took the lead early with a pair
of Austin Scott touchdowns and a touchdown by the fullback Nick
Pincheck making the game 19-0 at the half. Many words were shared
in the locker room at half-time, but what stuck the most were the
words of senior offensive lineman Deji Akintoye. Akintoye said that
this team is a family and that they were just going out to do another
days work.
The Knights came out fired up and it showed
as they drove down the field. On 3rd and 2 coach Dick Beck called
a play where center Mike Partain directly snapped the ball to FB
Pat McCourt. The Trojans were completely fooled and McCourt tossed
it to a wide-open Jeff Ball for the touchdown, the score was then
19-7.
But the Trojans offense proved to be too
strong and drove down again and scored; the score was now 26-7.
The Knights offense stalled and Parkland scored again making the
score 33-7. The Knights mounted another drive and FB Jimmy Casertano
punched it in, but after an unsuccessful 2-point conversion the
score was now 33-13.
Although the Knights lost, they are the first
football team to be Division champs in the past 19 years and are
the first team to be District champs in North Penn history. No matter
the outcome of this game the Knights achievements this season are
incredible nonetheless and no one can take that away from them.
Good job Knights!
